“Music will be there waiting for you.”
I’ve said that to myself many times when I’ve had to place music further into the background of my life. It’s always been a reminder that it’s okay to have to focus on something else for awhile.
I’m convinced that anyone can excel at playing music. For many of us, the desire to learn an instrument waxes and wanes as our priorities shift through the years.
My journey began with piano at age 5, moved to saxophone at 12, guitar and songwriting at 16, banjo at 26, and am currently enjoying a return to piano.
After earning a degree in music performance and spending many years teaching classes at a music school, I left teaching to become a touring musician. In 2013, I started performing with the artist Gregory Alan Isakov, and have had the good fortune of working with this Grammy-nominated group for the last decade.
As I continue to write, create, and perform music, I once again feel the pull to share these skills. It’s easier than ever to pass along knowledge around the world, so let’s learn some music together.
